Being a social media manager, sometimes it feels super fun and amazing to strategize and come up with awesome ideas to share content with your audience.

And sometimes you get a creativity block and run out of ideas.

As a social media manager or digital marketer, you will surely find yourself pondering these questions:

  •         What type of posts should I share on my company social media accounts?
  •         How can I get more brand engagement?
  •         How can I share posts in a more creative way?

Here I’ve shared some effective strategies to share content on social media that are proven and tested and help you increase brand engagement.

Let’s get right into it.

  1. Turn Your Blog Post into a Video

You have surely noticed that videos get more engagement and views than blogs, images and

links. And to get ideas for videos, look back at your famous and best performing blog posts.

Fetch ideas and data from the blog post and then turn it into short video and share it on your social media profiles. You can use Animoto for short videos and After Effects for complex videos.

  1. How-to Video

You can create videos by using an entirely new idea. You can share tips, how-to guides, tutorials, use cases, behind the scenes, user-generated content, upcoming company events or achievements, product launch announcements and much more.

As many social media channels, auto-play videos without sound, it’s a wise idea to add captions to your videos. It is the best way to help your followers understand the video even if they don’t turn on the sound.

  1. Live Videos

Live videos are amazing way to increase your traffic, organic reach and engagement. Facebook prefers live videos on its news feed than non-live content. Going live can increase the reach of non-live Facebook posts as well.

“People usually spend more than 3x more time watching Facebook Live videos than a video that is no longer live.”Facebook says.

Going live increases the chances of getting more reach of your non-live Facebook page content, says Michael Stelzner, CEO of Social Media Examiner.

In order to create your live videos, you don’t need to professionally produce or script, all you need is a plan. You can try different ideas in your live videos, such as, take your social media followers behind the scenes, introduce your marketing team, show your work sessions, activities or a tour of your office.

You can read theHubSpot guide on live streaming ideas for Facebook and Twitter (Periscope).

  1. Interview Someone

An interesting way to create a fun video is to interview someone. You can do it live to make it more fun. You can use BeLive that allows more than one person to be on the live stream.  There are many free video-editing tools available such as iMovie and Windows Maker, you can try any of them and edit videos.

If live streaming scares you, then simply record the interview with an industry expert, customer, colleague, and upload it directly to Facebook.

  1. Try Posting 360 Photos and Videos

If you are all set to try unique things, try posting 360 photos and videos for Facebook. To capture a 360 photo, you need to take a picture that is wider than 100 degrees using the panorama feature on your smartphone and Facebook will convert it into a 360 photo.

If you want to record a 360 video, you can simply tryGiroptic iO camera to record your Facebook Live, Periscope and YouTube Live videos.

Capture a 360 photo of your next event and share it on your Facebook page to get more engagement.

  1. Use GIFs

GIFs are another popular way to enliven your posts. Instead of sharing an image with a blog post, try using a relevant and funny GIF in your blog post.

GIFs play a main role in catching your followers’ attention. Attach a relevant GIF to make your Facebook post compelling, tweet or blog post and increase your chances of getting more likes, shares and comments.

  1. Harness the Power of UGC

User Generated Content (UGC) has the power to grow your following on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and more. You can run a user-generated content campaign to check if the trick works best for your brand.

  1. Self-Explanatory Images

Images have now become an indispensable part of any social media post. To stand out from rest of the infinite posts, you’ll have to be little smarter. Use self-explanatory images in your posts to clearly explain the concept without readers having to click on the link and read the full article to get the idea.

While choosing photos for your social media posts, make sure the image makes perfect sense with no caption. Being a digital marketer, you should also ensure that the image you are going to use in your social media posts should contain relevant and insightful content.

  1. Use Graphs

Using charts and graphs is another great idea to make your social media posts more interesting.

Your followers can quickly absorb the information through charts.

So, next time when you find an interesting or worth sharing study, turn the statistics into a chart or a graph. Your readers will love reading the insights.

  1. Share an Interesting Infographic

Do you know infographics are liked and shared 3X more than other type of content?

Just like images and videos in social media posts, infographics have also gained massive popularity over the past few years due to their helpful, relevant and informative nature.

You can turn your famous blogs into infographics and share it with you audience. There are many tools available to create amazing infographics.

  1. Held a Contest

You can entice your followers and generate more engagement by organizing a contest and offering something interesting in return.

Ask your fan base to comment, share a post, tag friends, use your branded hashtags, or post your product photo. The incentive could be a free product, gift voucher, branded t-shirts, mugs or anything interesting.

  1. Do a Poll

Another amazing way to increase your followers is to do a poll. Polls will engage your followers, and are helpful in conducting customer research and give away your products for free.

  1. Ask Questions

People love to help others, especially the brands they like most. Ask your followers for feedback or suggestions on any idea your team is working on.

  1. Use Quotes

Using a quote in your blog post is a good way to summarize the content. You can use a quote that is relevant and includes the main idea of your blog post. Instead of sharing a title of the post, you can use a quote to convey the main idea of the topic.

  1. Use Emojis

A fun way to connect and engage with your followers is to use emojis or symbols in your social media posts and make them more appealing.

  1. Use Lists

If your blog posts contains a step-by-step guide, list of ideas and useful tips, you can extract the main points and use it in your caption.

This way, your fans can easily learn all the important points from your posts without having to read the entire post.

  1. Share Tweets of Your Fans

Another amazing tactic is to share retweets of your fans, customers and followers. This is the best way to show appreciation to your followers who used your brand-oriented hashtags or shared your blog posts.

Find the tweets of your followers who mentioned your brand and retweet it by appreciating their nice gesture.

I hope these creative tactics of creating engaging social media posts will help you come up with more interesting ideas.

]]>
With more than 700 million users, it’s no wonder that Instagram is an integral part of any social media marketing campaign. Brands need to make sure they are using it right for their target audience by avoiding any careless blunders.

If you are already baffled by the idea of filters, hashtags, captions and followers or simply looking for some amazing ways to improve your online brand existence. Here is a list of some common Instagram marketing mistakes that your social media marketing team should avoid in order to strengthen your marketing efforts.

Let’s dive in.

  • Don’t Purchase Followers

There are many brands who are constantly looking for ways to build a strong Instagram presence, and purchasing followers in order to stay on top won’t do you any favors in the end.

Creating a fake account or buying Instagram followers give you following results:

  • Less or No Engagement

Though your account gained thousands of followers instantly, but chances are, the posted content won’t get any likes or comments.

  • A Shaky Audience

The followers you buy are mostly teenagers who don’t have any interest in your brand or bots that share totally irrelevant content. And these are not exactly the type of people you want your brand associated with.

Instead of buying Instagram followers, businesses need to create a strategic approach, create an effective Instagram marketing campaign, share engaging, valuable content and interact with audience.

Overlooking the Statistics

Okay, you have created an account, gained sufficient followers and regularly posting informative, interesting content. To get the most out of Instagram, you need to pay careful attention to the numbers, which most social media managers usually ignore.

With trial and error, you will be able to determine the posting schedule, types of content, hashtags, post captions to get the best responses and more engagement.

Here is a list of some essentials that you should measure on a daily basis:

  •         Number of followers, follower growth and loss
  •         Use of hashtags
  •         Engagement rate in the form of likes and comments
  •         Frequency of your posts
  •         Brand mentions
  •         Click-through rates for the URL present in your bio description
  •         Demographics of your audience
  •         Sales generated through Instagram
  •         Best time to post, i.e. when your posts get more likes

The best way to measure these insights is to use the Instagram’s feature of “Instagram Insights” that helps you know who your followers are, when they actively present online. You can also see insights for a particular post and story you have shared to check the performance of your content and how people are responding to your posts and Instagram stories.

Though numbers and statistics are not the only means to measure your Instagram success, they can surely help you provide with a clear sign of progress and what strategies work best.

Promote Branded Stuff

Constantly promoting your brand in your every single post on Instagram is a definite way to alienate your followers. If every time you post on Instagram are images of your own product, your band logo everywhere, or information about your brand, your followers are going to lose interest in your brand.

Think differently, come up with a strategic approach. Try to convey the values of your brand and products with the help of engaging content.

For example, Toms Shoes, has curated an Instagram account that features the images of their products, lifestyle content and their communities. This builds a clear visual representation of their brand and convey their One for One brand message in the real world.

Not Improving Their Captions

If your brand really wants to drive more engagement and increase conversions, you simply can’t afford to create senseless Instagram captions. Interesting Instagram captions not only give a clear context to your posts, but can generate emotional responses from your followers.

A study suggests that stimulating certain emotions can help increase the chances of messages being shared. Here are some easy steps to write the perfect Instagram captions:

  •         Use the most important words in the beginning of the caption.
  •         Use emojis and add a fun element to your caption.
  •         Ask thoughtful questions to encourage audience to participate.

Not Using Hashtags Appropriately

A study suggests that almost 91% of Instagram posts contains between one and seven hashtags. It clearly suggests that hashtags have more value and a convincing tool. But there are some digital marketers who are misusing this powerful tool.

Brands misuse hashtags in different forms, such as overuse hashtags, underuse hashtags or use irrelevant hashtags. Basically, the purpose of using hashtags is to allow audience to discover other topics – if you are spamming your posts with irrelevant or too many hashtags, you are actually devaluing your brand credibility.

And if you have quality, engaging content but not using any hashtag at all, then you are simply missing out on a huge opportunity of being discoverable and getting more engagement. Read this simple guide on how to use hashtags.

Posting Raw Content

Editing your Instagram content can increase your chances of getting more engagement by 45%. If you are overlooking this important Instagram marketing strategy, you are missing out on an opportunity to drive interactions.

There are countless editing apps available that can help you avoid posting lackluster images on your Instagram account. You can improve the quality of your photos and videos by using some effective Instagram Apps and take your marketing to a whole new level.

Ignoring the Target Audience

“Set it and forget it” approach doesn’t fit for Instagram at all. It is important to create relationships and build meaningful connections.

To make the most of your Instagram community you need to keep these points in mind:

  • See who your followers are and then follow relevant users
  • Build relationships, take part in conversations and respond to your community comments and questions.
  • Share your audience content (UGC) regularly
  • If possible, host some events
  • Ask your followers questions and have them respond on Instagram

Not Using the Power of Instagram Ads

It is estimated that nearly 120 million Instagram users visit a website, email or send a direct message every month. This shows that how keen the audience is to see content from top brands. Instagram ads can lift your brand up and help you get significant conversions. So, use

Instagram ad feature to connect with your target customers who are willing to hear what you have to convey.

There are four types of Instagram ads that you can use to give your content a significant boost.

  •         Photo ads
  •         Video ads
  •         Carousel ads
  •         Stories ads

Not Using Instagram Stories

Instagram stories allows users to share different videos and images in a slideshow arrangement

that disappear after 24 hours. It is estimated that more than 200 million users share Instagram Stories daily and one in five Stories get a direct response from a user.

If your brand also wants this instant and direct interaction with your audience, use this feature smartly. Keep these points in mind while creating Instagram Stories.

  • Tell an interesting story, a step-by-step guide, a tour to your office, or anything interesting.
  • Show the true personality and values of your brand. Keep your stories real.
  • Offer immense value, keep your content authentic.
  • Make your stories more interesting by using Instagram Stories features such as stickers, filters, tags and more.

If done right, Instagram serves as a remarkable tool to convey your brand’s value to the whole world. By avoiding these Instagram mistakes, you can simply pave your way to success.

Content marketing is gaining streams as being a proven strategy in the marketing world and more businesses are taking delve in it to build buyer personas. According to the buyer personas survey conducted by customer thinks, 57% of respondents did their first ever buyer persona development initiative within the last two years, but this is not the most interesting find of the survey. The interesting part is that despite trying hard to get to know their buyers, only 15% of survey respondents thought that their efforts were successful.

So as many as 85% respondents believed that their efforts to creating buyer personas are not being sufficient, than worry not because we are here to help you with what seems to be the issue:

You stick with only what you know

The first thing many businesses do when developing buyer persona is the profiling of their existing customers. Then, they use their own perspective and understanding of their products for developing pain points and unique selling propositions. This although being a good strategy can land many in a mistake. This method though helps you in targeting the people who are already using your product but ignores the demographics of other customers who are yet to include your product in their repertoire. Start off with what you know and use this information as a launching point for some in-depth research into your target audience.

You fail to stand out

Buyer persona can work wonders for the business, if only used in the right way. Buyer persona can actually make your corporate website design up to five times more effective for your target consumers. It is their effectiveness that makes them the most popular marketing tactic worldwide. Therefore, it is very possible that if you are targeting a specific persona that is relevant to your market, some or all of your competition are as well, and in this scenario it gets difficult to nurture leads, especially when your company is at the startup level.
Because of this, competition analysis should also be one of your important considerations when developing your buyer persona strategy. Luckily for you, competition has many pain points and you need to find a unique one that will set you apart from the rest.

You lean on sales intelligence

This is especially for businesses who are just beginning to adopt buyer personas, it’s easy to confuse with buyer profiling. According to the Customer Think’s survey, this is a big problem:

  • 80 percent were confused about the difference between buyer personas and product management/sales intelligence type buyer profiling
  • Nearly 60 percent said they were frustrated their buyer personas were based on typical product management and sales intelligence

Buyer personas should be built in collaboration with the sales team, but they shouldn’t be driven by sales intelligence. Effective buyer personas come from:

  • When you listen to your customers
  • Customer data analysis for demographic information
  • Keeps in consideration the goal of your buyers
  • Paying attention to important and unimportant elements around you.

All this information comes together to narrate a story about your unique audience. This helps you in building empathy for them and understanding their needs as you look for ways to meet with your products and service offerings.

They are checked off your to-do list

One of the primary steps of creating a content marketing campaign is to set a buyer persona strategy. But like any other important task, it can never be checked off your to-do list completely, even when done. Your company is growing and the economy is changing, while people’s social positions and job security change at an amazing rate. All of these things (and more) are factors that affect the state of your target audience.

If you don’t make the effort to regularly dig for new insights and adjust your understanding of how people are thinking, feeling, and acting, you won’t have a good idea of what their needs are, or how your business can help.

You have a content disconnect

In determining why your buyer personas aren’t effective, consider that the reason might not necessarily be because they’re not accurate. The truth is, many businesses create great buyer personas and use them to develop pain points and a USP, but then never refer back to them for other content marketing tasks.

Buyer personas should be used to brainstorm content ideas.

And since 60 percent of marketers create at least one piece of content per day, they should also serve as a daily litmus test — with every new piece of content created, marketers should have a good understanding of how their ideal buyers would think, feel, and respond to it.

All your content should be designed to drive certain behaviors in your audience. You won’t know how effective your potential content will be at this goal unless you take a hard look at your buyer personas for each piece.
