But before we start let’s look at the history of United Arab Emirates National Day. How it came into existence & what is its relevance to the people living in UAE?

History of the National Day UAE

United Arab Emirates National Day, UAE National Day Flag

In December of 1971, the rulers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Al-Ain, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain agreed to unite, formulating the notion of UAE (United Arab Emirates). Later in February 1972, the seventh emirate, Ras Al Khaimah decided to join the conglomerate and become a single entity.

The idea of united colonization in UAE began soon after the British declared their willingness to withdraw from colonies and protectorates of the eastern Mediterranean. A meeting was held between Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Makhtoum and upon mutual consensus, they decided to unite, inviting the other Gulf Emirates to join hands. Although the British departed in 1968, the National Day celebrations started three years afterward in 1971, when the Emirates federal constitution approved the principle on Dec 1, 1971. The very next day, the seventh emirate decided to join hands as well. The current flag of UAE was raised in a hostel building, now known as the “House of Union”, where the heads of 7 emirates gathered to take an influential decision. Sheikh Zayed was the elected president of the union and Sheikh Rashid was the vice president of UAE. Each year, the 2nd of December marks the festivities of the National day of UAE.

The post Dubai Expo 2020: Where the Next Big World Expo is About to Happen appeared first on Branex Official Blog.

]]>
UpdateDue to the massive outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, the UAE government feels saddened to announce that they are planning to postpone the Expo 2020 Dubai event until the next year 2021. They are extremely apologetic to all their international stakeholders and people who were looking forward to attending the event. The difficult decision was made as a collective one by the Steering Committee in collaboration with the International des Expositions (BIE). For now, they have planned to postpone it for one year but based on the changing dynamics of the world, they will establish/update a new date on the official Expo 2020 website in the coming days.

With less than 900 days to go, the development of the World Expo 2020 is progressing towards its initiation at an astonishing speed. More than 15,000 workers have dedicated their lives to the project, having invested more than 16 million hours to date, transforming the vast desolation of South Dubai into a mesmerizing destination, the likes of which our world has never seen. With a jaw-dropping architecture and all constructions projected to be completed a year before the official launch, Dubai Expo 2020 aims to bring more than 180 nations together under one umbrella.

If you ever get a chance to visit the outskirts of the South of Dubai, you are bound to come across heavily loaded trucks entering the zone every few minutes, crammed up to the brim with construction material. Currently, the entire zone is under construction and the only perceptible architectures to date are the headquarters for the Expo 2020 and a half-sized mock-up of a country pavilion. Also, there dotting the barrenness is a concrete batching plant, some air-conditioned resting huts, substations, tower cranes, and base foundations for other structures.

As far as the commute is concerned, an extended metro system connects the Al Maktoum airport directly with the Expo 2020 site. Whereas, civil engineers and architects are also reusing steel from the previous buildings keeping the aspect of sustainability in mind. Furthermore, the on-site lamp lights are mostly solar-powered, and all the excavated earth is being reused in construction. More than 5,000 cubic meters of concrete and more than 500 tons of steel are brought into the construction site every week, and already three of the districts have been completed.

With so much going on around in the world of Dubai Expo, we often wonder who is beyond this ultimate construction and what is the legacy behind it all. Let’s find out.

Who is Behind the Ultimate Construction of the Dubai Expo 2020?

Ahmed Al-Khatib, the senior vice president for the real-estate business. is the brains behind the ultimate construction of the Dubai Expo and is putting his greatest efforts in creating the first World Expo in the MEASA region. Dubai has also shown a great inclination towards facilitating more than a billion individuals across the MEASA region. MEASA region stands for Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

When Leaders like Al Maktoum back up the whole ideology of standardizing a Dubai Expo 2020, we can surely learn a whole lot more from them. Here are 10 Leadership Traits that you can learn from Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid who transformed the face of Dubai.

According to Al-Khatib, Dubai Global Expo can accommodate more than 25 million visitors and expects an estimated economic boost worth US $34.5 billion.

“This is a very complex project,” admits Al-Khatib. “We are building a city. Right now we are at around 7,000 workers on site and we are expecting to reach around 37,000. Then there’s the equipment, the lay down areas, the access roads, the food (how to feed everybody on site), the waste management. It will become more and more challenging as the countries start coming in. But we are taking all measures to make sure this is a very smooth and easy experience. The infrastructure and the power in any development are the most critical items and we are actually finishing them ahead of time.”

When asked how the team is performing their respective duties, Al-Khatib responded casually,

“Absolutely, there’s no pressure, I don’t think the team sleeps. We have consultants and contractors from all over the world, so if it is night over here, it’s morning in Chicago, so working around the clock is very, very necessary.”

“But it’s exciting and it’s literally a one-of-a-kind experience. I don’t know if I’m ever going to have the privilege to be part of a similar project again. It’s a university on its own. You think you know everything but actually when it comes to the amount of logistics, the amount of challenges, the different calibre of consultants and contractors, you’re constantly learning. But everybody’s working towards one goal: to make an exceptional experience for the visitors and for the country, and to make sure that it lives long in the memory.”

The Legacy of Dubai Expo 2020

The leadership of the Expo 2020 is committed to building a legacy that is sustainable and everlasting. The agenda is to expand its new architectural impact within the boundaries of the UAE and beyond. The Dubai Expo 2020 has a unified vision of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. The idea is believed to sustain not only for the six months of the World Expo but beyond it.

Economic Legacy

Year 2016 marks the date when Expo 2020 extended a hand of partnership towards WAMDA in the wake of harnessing the true power of collaboration in entrepreneurship ecosystem. WAMDA is a platform that aims to accelerate entrepreneurship in the MENA region. WAMDA and Expo 2020 held a staunch believe that cultivating such a relationship will ultimately unlock newer and better economic opportunities that will create possible gateways in the light of collaborative entrepreneurship.

The following initiative will help individuals and startups get easily connected with some of the greatest enterprise level organizations, who can help them scale exponentially and grow their respective businesses. More than 120 business leaders, in collaboration with 800 different startups operational within the UAE region, will perform further research in order to identify the trends and obstacles becoming a hindrance in the establishment of a collaborative ecosystem.

Social Legacy

Beyond the perceptible economic benefits, Dubai Expo 2020 will also focus on different aspects of social cohesion. The Emiratis know that the future of UAE lies in the hands of their youth, and hence, they want to nurture them into the future leaders of tomorrow. Expo 2020 will see the launch of a dedicated youth and children’s program, aimed at inspiring the young minds and empowering them to take ownership. Dubai Expo 2020 will further inculcate in the next generation new knowledge pertaining to sustainability, mobility and other potential innovations in technology.

For instance, Expo 2020 Dubai is joining forces with the leading vehicle manufacturer Nissan to demonstrate and showcase the future of intelligent mobility – starting with a fleet that includes electric vehicles. Moreover, Expo 2020 Dubai and Cisco will work closely to deliver a global event that is at the forefront of technological evolution and demonstrate how connectivity can be a force for social and economic good, in alignment with the event’s theme, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.’

As Reem Al Hashimy, an Emirati Minister who has ample amount of experience in International Affairs under his belt and who started her career as a Commercial Attaché says:

“Our leadership, and it starts from Sheikh Mohammed, was very clear,” she adds. “That you guys are planning for an event that can’t be short of amazing. But he also said you need to make sure that it has a good legacy. With that he meant the social legacy is there, meaning the inclusion of people, getting them to feel that they’re part of it. The element of pride was very big. But also that the Expo is a vehicle for us to get people learning about things that are important for the future of the world. To inspire them, particularly the youth, and to make them feel that they have a part to play in this world.”

“We want people to remember their experiences here as one of the best they’ve had in their life. And I give the example of people I’ve met on this journey, who, for example, visited the Montreal 1967 Expo and as a result of it became architects. That’s legacy. For me, to meet a person who made a career out of being inspired by architecture that he saw at an Expo, that’s the sort of legacy we want to leave behind. It’s very social, it’s very inspirational, and it’s tangible.”

Black gold!

It’s the backbone of billions of lives.

Warms up in the houses we live in. Helps us grow and prepare our food. Fuels the cars we drive and propels us through the soaring sky.

It’s undoubtedly one of the most important commodities in the world.

But what if it disappears?

What will happen to our world? Our food? The comfortable lives that we live?

It’ll be the beginning of our worst nightmare. Soon the UAE will run out of this once-abundant resource.

Way back in 2007, Sir Richard Branson had made the following prophecy.

“In five years’ time Oil in UAE will run out, but it has diversified its assets and interests enough with 95% of its income derived from tourism, property and music shops, other countries in the region should learn from what Dubai has done and they should beware that conventional fuel will begin to decline in the next five to 10 years.”

For more than 150 years oil and gas exploration companies in the Middle East have been extracting oil and selling it across the globe. But soon the tables are about to turn and Middle East, especially the UAE need to figure out new ways to sustain in the modern-day world.

The occasional wild camels on the road and the khaki sand dunes have been replaced by impressive skyscrapers and sportscars. One of the first signs of technological development is a 20-foot Goliath billboard of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid which is rendered in mosaic solar panels.

From shopping cart to a loyal customer, effortless eCommerce solutions

On the south side of Dubai, a 200-megawatt Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is situated in the clusters of the building. The solar park resembles a humongous mirror that stretches across 2 sq. miles melting into the horizon.

The largest solar plant in the US can generate 550 MW, but Dubai’s solar park is about to overpower it by a mile. In the next few years, additional 5,000 MW is expected to map around Dubai with an investment of $14 billion.

Oil in UAE

Once upon a time, Dubai was considered a city of superlatives: the gigantic fireworks display, the tallest building in the world, the busiest airport in the world. But as people evolve, the city of gold had taken a broad perspective on swapping the image with a city of startups and innovation.

“We decided that we will go to the future—we will embrace the future without worry,” says Mohammad Al Gergawi, the architect of Dubai’s vision for the next half-century.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK85–PpvAY

UAE oil production is now at a halt. The city is more of a postcard for the youth & diversification for the old. Now, taxi drivers work all weekday and skydive on the weekends. The city of gold has moved-on in an era of fast progression. UAE education system is disrupting with AI-based instructors.

The government of UAE is crunching the numbers to join the modern-day revolution.

“We initiated our e-government services 16 years ago, and today, we are launching a phase that will rely on artificial intelligence. We are striving to adopt all tools and AI technologies that will boost government performance on all levels,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

The Rise of New Opportunities

At the age of 27, Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama is appointed as UAE’s first Artificial Intelligence minister. This is a clear indication that UAE is maturing with modern-day technology.

The sheikh’s are serious about venturing into the entrepreneurial fold to grow their assets. Out of 9.54 million total population, around 11.48% are Emiratis. The diversification allows expats to start a business in UAE, Dubai. With much awareness in the region, people now start their business by designing a website, developing a mobile app, and do the social media marketing.

With the rise of the real estate business, people are now cashing-in the opportunity and starting a real estate business in Dubai which is one of the most happening city for tourists.

If you’re in UAE or planning to settle in UAE you can look into some business ideas before you land in the country of enormous business opportunities.

Around 300 entrepreneurs, investors, technologists gathered in Dubai Internet City (DIC) to share ideas, get inspiration, and invest in one of the most innovative ideas of the year 2018. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Patrick Rogers, co-founder Support Legal said:

“People are making a conscious decision to move here from places like London and Singapore for a number of reasons such as developer talent, VC money, proven concepts, and successful exits; and, more importantly, it acts as a hub for developing your idea in the wider regional ecosystem.”

With so much diversification in the UAE, Dubai holds plans to invest around AED 1 billion in the next five years for a digital bank in the UAE. This will provide SMEs in UAE to create a state-of-the-art loan and deposit offerings.

At present, students and business owners can stay in UAE only if they’re doing business in the UAE and all businesses outside of a special economic free zone require a local partner to own 51%. With the oil industry in the Middle East facing a decline, the government has eased restrictions on foreigners. Now expats can take 100% ownership of their business.

On the Concluding Note

Oil in the UAE is running out. With so much diversification there is a lot of opportunities for people to start a business in UAE and look into the alternative source of energy for their home and for their businesses. If you’re already living in UAE or willing to move on in UAE you need to equip yourself with the field of big data and AI. AI is the new brain-child for the coming generation in UAE. If you want to catch-up then the best way is to stay informed.

Once upon a time, long long ago, human teachers made core contributions to the classroom. Teachers used to analyze, synthesize, & apply knowledge. Teachers helped students nurture their critical, cognitive thinking and problem-solving skills. Economists concluded that top teachers made life-long contributions.

Top teachers add $266,000 to a student’s lifetime earnings.

Now, imagine a teacher delivering personalized lessons to an entire classroom of students. Travel back a few years and this sounds like a dream. But with the advancements in AI, the whole education system in UAE is about to change.

UAE appointed Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama as UAE’s minister of state for artificial intelligence. He did some digging and gathered some statistics: $15.7 trillion global market value in 2030. Boosting UAE’s GDP by 35%. Reducing government costs by 50%. 90% resistance from the financial crisis. The next generation of government. In fact, ADEC (Abu Dhabi education department council) is willing to support this cause and invest a reasonable amount in shifting the mundane education system to an AI-based engaging one.

Here is how AI will transform the education system to a new level:

Personalized learning experience

There is a rise in adaptive education systems across UAE. From games to learning programs, AI is changing the way teachers interact with students. The systems can be tailored according to the unique requirements of each student.

We develop mobile apps that delight customers & grow business.

For instance, when MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) finally garnered attention in the online education arena, the breakthrough was enough to engage Sebastian Thrun and Peter Norvig into launching an online course, “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence”. The course gained instant popularity, and from an initial 58,000, the enrollments surged to 1,60,000. Finally, the former hedge-fund analyst Salman Khan sealed a deal and delivered 201,849,203 lessons, running the gamut from calculus to Mark Rothko’s painting techniques, all leveraging the power of using AI.

Self-adapting, Interactive Media

Interactive media is never a linear medium. When the principles of audio, video, & graphics are applied to the field of education, the learning experience gets personalized, and students are able to retain more data with high-accuracy.

This gives space to teachers & students to interact with each other in a tailored manner. Students can be a part of e-learning programs and distant learning courses which are available online and learn at their own pace.

ADEC is helping teachers offer personalized courses to students who are willing to learn in areas that are not widely available across UAE. The interactive media is actually self-adapting and molds courses based on the needs of individual students.

Computer-assisted Aggregated Learning Systems

Have you ever taken part in an e-learning experience?

If yes, you must already be accustomed to the notion of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning Systems. Abbreviated as CSCLS, this tool employs social interaction for education. A tool which started as an experiment formed a gateway for the latest in AI technology in the field of education.

Extending to this, AI is also found helping teachers assess and grade students. It is now possible for teachers to automate grading systems for multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions, making the work easier and saving up on a lot of time.

Although essay grading is still in its infancy, it will soon be able to rise up to its full glory in no-time. This is a clear time-saver for students and teachers to focus on the important stuff and have more interaction even from sitting on their couches.

Data mining in the field of education

ADEC is taking an active part in integrating AI in the field of education. This involves embedding data mining in online learning systems to develop a clear set of instructions. The process is known as educational data mining. On a rudimentary level, analytics can determine when a student will drop a course. And on a more complex level, it can even detect the boredom level of a student from the mouse and key clicks and redirect the student to refocus their attention on the course at hand.

Detecting the room for improvement

AI can also help fill the gaps between students and teachers. The most popular online course provider, Coursera, uses this technology in a highly intuitive manner. Here is what conspires. If a major chunk of students submits a wrong answer to a question, it sends feedback to the teacher, who automatically sends custom hints back to the students to help them get at the right answer.

To end it all

Even though implementing AI has gained massive hype in the recent years, this doesn’t imply that there is no need for a physical teacher in the classroom. In fact, with AI, there is a perfect blend of technology with experience which can come to the benefit of students. However, with brand new implementations out there, the future still holds in the hands of technology to guide the students on the right path, regardless of their geographical location.

How ‘insiders’ at Facebook & Instagram make $$$ via illegal Account Verification https://www.branex.ae/blog/facebook-instagram-illegal-account-verification/ https://www.branex.ae/blog/facebook-instagram-illegal-account-verification/#respond Mon, 18 Sep 2017 08:07:52 +0000 https://www.branex.ae/blog/?p=3831 So basically, just like in real life, there are two ways to get verified on Facebook or Instagram. The post How ‘insiders’ at Facebook & Instagram make $$$ via illegal Account Verification appeared first on Branex Official Blog.

]]>
So basically, just like in real life, there are two ways to get verified on Facebook or Instagram.

The first method is the authentic one, the one that is given by the officials.

You can check how to get your page verified on Facebook? Or How to get yourself verified on Instagram?

The above methods are the ones suggested by the social media platforms themselves. But then there are those people who can take you to the easy route and get your account verified. The only condition is that you need to pay a little to get yourself verified.

Isn’t that illegal you may ask?

Well to answer that let us look at one of the tweets from Twitter:

“I mean if Mashable wants to pay for it, I can get you a blue check over night,”

How does the verification work?

There is a guy who knows some guy (the middle man of Instagram verification). Now with this method, there is no restriction of age or popularity. Whether you are a fresh drop out from college or you’re a marketer that is willing to leave an impression on their clients, you can get your account verified just with a price tag.

What is the price tag? The fee to verify your account varies from a branded energy drink to around $10,000, which depends upon a number of sources that are in the process or the direct purchase from the middleman.

For the Facebook price tag, a bit low. Maximum value to verify a page is around $2,000.

This benefit both the middleman and the user. To a middleman. Selling one to two verified accounts a month is sufficient for their whole month.

The sold service is not a good or a service that is sold separately on the internet. It can only be purchased via links and middleman.

Oh and yes Instagram is aware of this. As mentioned in their terms:

“You are responsible for any activity that occurs through your account and you agree you will not sell, transfer, license or assign your account, followers, username, or any account rights,”

What are the benefits of verified account on Facebook/Instagram?

The blue tick account is mainly a status symbol. It gives credibility to your account. Gives prime spot on search results pages and your influence reaches up to 700 million monthly active users.

On the grand scale, Instagram knows and supports this black market well. While anyone can apply for the account via the links mentioned above. The only problem is that the normal process takes so much time, so people go for this underground black-market tactic to get themselves verified.

Who buys the verified accounts?

Even though some of the professional digital design agency owners don’t prefer this type of verification, there are some who goes the extra mile and take this approach.

For example, John (pseudo name of my friend) shared with me that he got the verified account from some reference guy, now after three years, he is fully immersed in this business.

He sells accounts to everyone. From individuals to corporations with some price tag.

Here is how the verification usually takes place in the black market:

Step1: There is usually an employee from Instagram/Facebook who is willing to take a bribe or he is just a friend. He is first contacted.

Step2: The middleman receives cash from the person who wants to get their account verified. The split is done among the employee and the middleman.

Step3: The employee at Facebook/Instagram submits a verification request which is obviously treated as high priority.

Step4: Verification gets done and the user can avail all the features of a premium verified account.

For a celebrity, they can easily get the verified account just by applying via the forms mentioned above.

But for every other user, you need to have a lot of patience to get your account verified. One friend of mine, who owns a digital design agency purchased and dumped his verified account just because he thought it was all illegal to get the account and use in this manner.

After that, he applied for the verification of another account in the normal way and got verified within twenty days.

To conclude it all

Getting verified is surely important when it comes to the Facebook page or Instagram account. Whether you do it legally or illegally, in both cases you get to use the features of a premium verified account.

But as a marketer and a digital media strategist, I would never suggest going for the paid verification. Although you might get it all right. But there will always be that guilt in you. The bribe you paid to accelerate the process.

In the fourth quarter of the year 2012, Wal-Mart was generating 2.5 petabytes of data to around 1 million customers every hour. In the same year, Facebook managed to circulate 2.5 billion pieces of content, 2.7 billion likes, and 300 million photos upload each day. While most of the small businesses still don’t understand the power of Big Data, Branex AE managed to grab the attention of Neil Patel when we shared this detailed infographic on our blog.

Source:

http://neilpatel.com/blog/8-ways-create-instagram-campaign-will-blow-brand/

Here are five small things you can do to leverage your brand with Big Data:

1) Explore Trends on Google

No doubt Google is one huge Gorilla when it comes to Big Data. In their mission to organize world’s information in one place, it is now easy for everyone to access and use that information.

We all know Google search, but if you have started a business and willing to work for long term, you need to use Google Trends to search for latest trends and happenings in your field.

Let’s say I sell bananas. I can log into Google Trends and explore related terms by searching on a keyword (in this case “bananas”). Google will instantly scour its data banks and serve up results of the top related search terms. I discover that “bananas in pajamas” is being searched on a lot.

2) Monitor Social Media

You need to keep track of your brand on social media. What your competitors are offering and how can you offer a better version of it? Everyone has this opportunity to engage and make a difference. How we respond to that opportunity makes all the difference in the world.

Engage, respond, and solve a problem with Big Data. There are so many tools that you can use to get control of Big Data on social media. Tools like Adobe Marketing Cloud or Radian6. If not, a free tool like SocialMention.com is less comprehensive in terms of the results.

3) Measure your performance with a graph

Your personal social graph – the people you are connected to on social networks – is a powerful asset. If you’re smart about social, you probably have connections on LinkedIn and maybe, Facebook, who you want to build relationships with. Perhaps they are potential clients, press contacts, bloggers or other influential people who could be a benefit to your business.

Dig deep into Google Analytics and study the graphs. Look what people are liking, and what they are looking for.

4) Don’t Just Target. Retarget

Cookies are everywhere. Their ubiquity has led to a complete overhaul of how most online advertising is purchased. We used to buy sites, or groups of sites that we anticipated our target were likely to be hanging out on based on their demographic or psychographic profile. Today, more and more, we buy groups of individuals based on cookie data on a broad range of sites across the internet. There are dozens of companies that collect data on hundreds of millions of people and then sell it so you can enhance the targeting of your display advertising.

We live in a world increasingly driven by data. How your organization defines its data strategy and approach will decide how successful you will be as a business. Use these 4 ways to grow your startup business.

Now the choice is yours. You can either sit here or blame others for your failures or you can take that step forward. You can digitize your idea by starting with a website. Contact us and we will help you get that website ready for you.

Are the attending costs covered?

No. But TechCrunch will try to find financial assistance for a startup in need of help to reach the Nairobi event.

Who will choose the finalists?

The TechCrunch editors who run the TechCrunch Startup Battlefield competition will choose the finalists from the application pool.

Who will be the judges?

TechCrunch and Facebook will select four judges for each theme. They will be noted entrepreneurs, investors and technologists with experience relevant to the category. A TechCrunch editor will moderate the judging and cast the tie-breaker ballot, if needed.

What is the format of the competition?

Each company will have five minutes to present. The judges will have five minutes to ask questions. Live demos are strongly encouraged.

Upon what criteria startups will be judged?

  • Productivity and Utility — the judges will pick the startup with the product or service most likely to go into full commercial production and have the biggest impact on human potential and/or the largest exit.
  • Social Good — the judges will look for the startup with the product most likely to catalyze social and economic development through technology.
  • Gaming and Entertainment — the judges will pick the startup with the product or service most likely to see wide consumer adoption and have either the biggest exit and/or impact on gaming and entertainment.
